Workonline operates a highly resilient and redundant network spanning Africa, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. Its infrastructure and long-standing peering relationships enable reliable, low-latency connectivity across key global markets, supporting mission-critical traffic for customers across multiple geographies.
We can only retain our leading position, whilst achieving our vision of developing a healthy African Internet ecosystem, with the best skills and talent in the market.
Our doors are always open to experts who are passionate about the development of the Internet. We welcome any opportunity to connect with bright minds that are committed to helping create a single African Internet ecosystem.
Currently hiring: Business Development Hunter – South Africa
Based: On-site. Johannesburg, South Africa.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to turn a market opportunity into revenue.
Workonline Communications is growing its South African business and we’re looking for a Business Development Executive – IP Transit and EVPL service to join our Johannesburg team.
This is a genuine new-business role.
You’ll be expected to identify where the opportunities are, get in front of the right decision-makers, build a qualified pipeline and take opportunities through to close.
There isn’t a queue of warm leads waiting for you.
You’ll need to be comfortable opening doors, asking good questions, understanding a customer’s network and commercial requirements, and building a compelling business case for working with Workonline.
What you’ll be selling
Workonline operates one of Africa’s leading IP networks, connecting local networks and global Content Delivery Networks across Africa and internationally.
You’ll be selling into a sophisticated wholesale market where customers understand connectivity. That means this is not a scripted sales role. You need to understand what you are selling, why it matters and where Workonline can create value for the customer.
We’d like to hear from you if you can show us that you have:
– Successfully generated your own sales pipeline rather than relying primarily on inbound leads
– Prospected and opened conversations with senior decision-makers
– Taken opportunities from first conversation through proposal, negotiation and close
– Consistently worked towards and achieved revenue targets
– Sold a solution to improve local and international routing and where understanding the customer’s requirements mattered
– Used CRM and pipeline management properly to manage opportunities and forecast sales
Experience in telecommunications, IP transit, connectivity, cloud, data centres or the broader digital infrastructure sector would be a strong advantage.
We care more about evidence of what you have sold and won than a particular qualification.
If this sounds like you, we’d like to hear about the business you’ve actually won.
